BIOGRAPHY
Anne Nevill was born on 11 June 1456 in Warwick Castle, the daughter of Richard Nevill 'the Kingmaker', earl of Warwick, and Lady Anne de Beauchamp, countess of Warwick.

In 1470, Anne was married to Edward, Prince of Wales and son of King Henry VI. However, her father's restoration of King Henry VI to the English throne did not prove lasting, and both her father and her husband died in battles with the Yorkists in 1471. Later that year, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, sought to marry her, but his brother, George, Duke of Clarence, Anne's sister's husband, opposed the match, seeking to keep all Warwick's vast estates in his own family. Rumour had it that George hid Anne in a London mansion, disguised as a kitchen maid. In 1472 Richard and George debated the issue before Edward IV, and then took it to parliament, which agreed to the marriage and decreed that Warwick's estates be partitioned between the brothers.

On 12 July 1472 the marriage took place and, in 1473, their only child was born. In 1483, her husband usurped the throne and became Richard III, King of England. On 9 April 1484, their son, Edward, died, followed by Anne on 16 March 1485. Her early death, aged only twenty-nine, prevented her from knowing the fate of her husband who, only a few months later, on 22 August 1485, was defeated and killed at the Battle of Bosworth.
